Well, I think we can safely say that winter is here! This brings a lot of opportunities to get outside and enjoy the snow and other great activities. Here are just a few friendly reminders to ensure that we continue to stay safe and healthy as we continue to work hard to ensure we have the opportunity to continue in-person learning!
Be sure your child:
- Is dressed for the cold weather. Hats, Coats, Snowpants, Gloves, Boots, and Scarves!
- Students will be going outside for both recess and Physical Education class.
- Has their Screening Sheet filled out and signed upon arrival.
- Comes to school with a clean mask daily.
If your child has any signs or symptoms regarding Covid-19 (runny nose, nasal congestion, cough, loss of taste or smell, muscle pain or body aches, temperature of 100'F or more, chills, fatigue, shortness of breath or trouble breathing, headache, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea), please be sure your child stays home. We then ask that you contact the school nurse at your earliest convenience to be informed of the procedures and protocols moving forward. We understand that this could be an inconvenience, but it is what it takes to keep all students, staff, and families safe. Thank you again for your understanding!

A friendly reminder that Wednesday, February 3 is a half-day for students.
Buses: Dismissing at approximately 11:00 am-11:10 am.
YELLOW Lot Parent Pickup: Approximately 11:10 am following the departure of the buses.
BLUE Lot Parent Pickup: Will begin at 11:05 am.
**Please send a note if your child's dismissal routine will change for that day.**
Just a friendly reminder for those students and families who would like to make a non-perishable donation. Our Kindness Committee is carrying out our annual SOUP'er Bowl through next week. You can simply drop off your donations upon arrival and show your support for either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Kansas City Chiefs! We thank you for all your generous donations!
Mark Your Calendars: Board of Education to Host a Listening Session
The West Genesee Central School District Board of Education (BOE) invites parents, staff, community members, and students to a Community Listening Session.
It will be held in the West Genesee High School Library on Wednesday, February 3, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (prior to the BOE meeting that will start at 7:00 p.m.) The guiding question for this is: "What are your hopes and dreams for WGCSD?" Please consider joining this session and offering your thoughts.
Those who would like to come to the Library and participate will need to pre-register by filling out the RSVP from the invitation here. This will allow us to track participant numbers. Depending on how many register and the capacity we can have in the Library, we will put in place a plan for overflow (i.e satellite rooms). It will also be livestreamed so anyone can watch from the link on the website or by clicking here.
If you cannot join that evening, but want to share your thoughts, please send an email with your hopes to kcoyne@westgenesee.org and your ideas will be included. The BOE President, Kimberly Coyne, will try to read them aloud if there is time.
Kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year has begun and will be open and continue virtually until March 31, 2021! Gertrude Hawk
Our annual Gertrude Hawk Chocolates fundraiser has begun! Students will be bringing home their sales catalog and order form this week. New for this year, each student/seller will receive their order(s) shipped directly to their home. In order to accomplish this, please be sure to CLEARLY fill out the home address section on your Gertrude Hawk order form.

Remote students who wish to fundraise using the paper sales catalog can pick up a sales packet from the main office during the weekday hours of 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday, February 5 is our 1st grade spirit day! All students are invited to wear their blue and gold to show school spirit. 1st graders will receive a special gift from the PTO.
