"Going Blue 4 Kids"

In honor of Melissa Wenham, Split Rock Elementary participated in the "Step Up 4 Kids" fundraiser on Tuesday. We want to thank all those who helped organize this wonderful event! Both staff and students enjoyed the opportunity to fundraise and take a lap around the building to show their support for such a great cause. The Split Rock Community raised over $215 for the McMahon Child Advocacy Center! 

Ramadan Mubarak!
Happy Ramadan!  Ramadan began on the evening of Tuesday, April 13 and will end the evening of Wednesday, May 12. Ramadan concludes with Eid Al-Fitr, the “Festival of Breaking the Fast.”  To gain a better understanding of Ramadan and what it means to our Muslim community members, here is an essay written by West Genesee High School senior, Sereen Awawda. Thank you, Sereen, and Ramadan Mubarak!

New York State Assessments

Grade 3 and Grade 4 in-person students only (not remote) will take the New York State English Language Arts Assessment Wednesday, April 21st, and the NYS Math Assessment on Wednesday, May 5th. These tests will be computer-based assessments. We will only be administering session one (multiple choice). Please be sure your child comes to school well-rested, well-fed and on time. Our Grade 4 students will also be taking the NYS Science Assessment on Monday, June 7th.

Positivity Project 

Next week's Positivity Project Character Strength focus will be APPRECIATION OF BEAUTY AND EXCELLENCE. Click here to get some background on what the students will be working on and talking about next week.

                               

April PTO Meeting Registration

Our April PTO meeting will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, April 21 at 6:00 p.m. Please email wgsrpto@westgenesee.org to register for the online link. 

Bottle and Can Drive 

Have you been saving your returnable bottles and cans? Our bottle and can drive is next weekend, Saturday, April 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the upper Split Rock parking lot.

Charlee’s Ice Cream Social
Visit the newly opened Charlee’s Ice Cream on Tuesday, May 11 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.and 15% of your order will be donated back to the Split Rock PTO.

Spring Scholastic Book Fair
We are very excited to announce that our spring Scholastic Book Fair will be held IN PERSON on Tuesday, May 11 to Thursday, May 13. The Book Fair will follow all current safety protocols and online ordering will still be available. Stay tuned for more information!
