We had a great first week at "The Rock!" We spent the first four days getting adjusted to classroom routines, expectations and building protocols. Our Wildcats are amazing and so resilient! They did a phenomenal job and had a great time doing so! Here are some of the pictures captured throughout our first few days!
There were a few bumps in the road the first day or so but students, staff and families have adjusted quite well and the process for arrival and dismissal are beginning to get straightened out and the flow is improving on a daily basis. For families that are dropping off and picking up, please be sure:
- As students are waiting to get to the drop-off/pick-up zone, students are prepared to exit the car (masks on, bookbags ready).
- Please be sure you pull all the way up, ensuring we are filling up the drop-off/pick-up zone.
- Please be sure all students are entering and exiting the cars on the passenger side.
- We ask that parents limit getting out of the car to help with this process
- Please send a note in if your child's transportation method changes
- Mask
- Water bottle
- Sneakers for PE and Recess
An informational flyer will be sent home along with teacher communication regarding the time, process, and link to your virtual presentations.

Health and Wellness
Best practice is to keep your child home if they are experiencing any of the signs or symptoms below. Contacting Ms. Balcourt (school nurse) to inform her of the status of your child would be helpful as both parties would be able to discuss the next steps to first ensure your child's health and safety and go through the correct procedures to return to school.
Signs or Symptoms
Out of an abundance of caution, if your child exhibits any of these symptoms, you will be contacted by the school nurse and your child will be sent home for evaluation and/or testing. We appreciate your understanding, support, and cooperation. Signs or Symptoms
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
Communications from West Genesee
Here are some helpful tips about our SchoolMessenger communication system:
To be sure that you are receiving all emails sent from the District/schools/teachers, please periodically check you spam/junk/promotions folder for emails with @westgenesee.org, then mark that they are not spam or junk! To be sure that you are receiving text messages this year from WGCSD or your school(s), text a "Y" or "Yes" to 67587. If you still have questions about receiving emails and/or texts from WGCSD, please email your questions to publications@westgenesee.org.

Thank You!
The Split Rock PTO graciously provided breakfast for the staff this morning. We were welcomed with coffee, donuts, and breakfast pizza in and a decorated staff room. What a way to end the first week of the new school year! We appreciate the treat and are so grateful and thankful for all you do for our students and staff all year long!
